CALLS NEEDED TODAY
The House of Representatives will hold a hearing on Tue, February 5th with anti-immigrant voices calling for FEWER family visas and for enforcement-only and enforcement-first policies, rather than real immigration reform. As people of faith, we need to send a strong message to the House leadership that they need to stop focusing on these anti-family and anti-immigrant measures, and support what is truly needed – immigration reform that prioritizes family unity and creates a pathway to full citizenship.
The focus for these calls will be House leadership and members of the House Judiciary Committee. If one of your members are on the House judiciary committee (full list here: http://judiciary.house.gov/about/members.html), please call them as well.
Please call these 6 members, and call early and often!
Rep. Carter (TX-31): 202-225-3864
Here’s a sample script you can use to tailor your personal message:
Hi, my name is (NAME/TTTLE), from (FAITH AFFILIATION / CONGREGATION). Because of my faith values, I am opposed to the anti-immigrant and anti-family messages coming from the House Judiciary Committee. I urge the Representative to support common sense, humane immigration reform that prioritizes family unity and creates a pathway to citizenship for aspiring Americans who are currently undocumented.
