Interfaith Prayers Expressing Solidarity with Dreamers

God of abundant love, we ask for forgiveness for the times we have failed to see you
in the faces of asylum seekers in search of safety for their children, refugees fleeing violence,
and DACA recipients chasing their dreams.
We ask your pardon for the times we failed to offer shelter and protection to your precious people.
God of infinite mercy, open our arms, expand our hearts, and show us how to ease the burdens of those in need.
Give us the courage to accompany all who seek peace and safety in our nation.
Amen.

Loving Creator, you have blessed our communities with DACA recipients who arrived here as children
and now contribute in countless ways to our common life as a nation.
May they continue to be allowed to work, study, and live in peace and safety.
May those in authority turn away from the evils of prejudice, fear, and scarcity,
and instead be filled with compassion and mercy.
And may we have the courage and faithfulness to take
daily, concrete actions in pursuit of justice for all.

•••

Great Spirit of many names, may we have the fortitude and compassion
to support DACA recipients and all undocumented immigrants whose rights are being threatened.
May our immigrant neighbors be comforted with peace,
and may all your children be equipped with renewed vigor to continue the long fight for justice.

•••

God of love and compassion, you create every person in your divine image and desire us to unite as one,
enriching each other with our uniqueness.
Open our eyes to the injustices facing Dreamers, whose legal status continues to be under attack.
Open our hearts to be moved by the beauty and interdependence of our human family,
recognizing that our flourishing as well as our suffering are connected.
Open our hands, that we may take action for justice in solidarity with our undocumented neighbors.
Amen.

May we greet each stranger as a neighbor and friend,
and be a source of hope and comfort for Dreamers and all immigrants.
May those who are discouraged by the injustices of our world
recognize the power and potential we hold as a collective.
May it be so.

Dear Holy One, today we practice waiting, not passive waiting,
but the kind of waiting that happens in the midst of the struggle leading us toward peace.
We pray for all who are caught without access to permanent protections,
and we lift up DACA recipients in particular.
May your peace be possible for all.
